Even though it’s not reflected on my website yet, I have officially raised over $1,000 for my Team in Training!!!! I can’t believe I have raised over a third of my goal in less than a month. What a rewarding feeling! Team in Training has already changed my life and I haven’t even ran the marathon yet…IĀ have a strong feeling I might uncontrollably sob throughout the run. Raising money for an awesome cause and seeing how supportive people are of what I am doing is extremely moving. I posted a quote on my Facebook yesterday, but feel the need to repeat it here.
“COMPASSION is the ultimate and most meaningful embodiment of emotional maturity. It is through compassion that a person achieves the highest peak and deepest reach in his or her search for self-fulfillment.”-Arthur Jersild
If there is one truth that I have found, it is that being compassionate is the meaning of my life. Making others happy, bringing hope to others who have it tough…these things in turn bring joy, hope and fulfillment to my life. Thank you all for continuing to support me.
On Earth Day, On the Rocks in downtown Florence will be hosting a fundraising event for my Team in Training. Dillon Hodges and Lee Taylor have volunteered their time and musical talents to entertain us as we unite to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Local businesses have donated door prizes, which will be raffled off all night long. Come out to On the Rocks at 6:00 p.m. on April 22nd for a fun night to support a great cause!
Alrighty…giveaway time!! If you remember a couple weeks ago, I posted that a random donor would be chosen to win a $25 dollar Target giftcard, homemade cookies, and other random goodies. I used random.org’s generator to select a winner fairly. I numbered off the donors in the order of their donation and plugged the numbers in the generater….and the winner is….
